For people who want to know why the practice of meditation and yogic embodiment has such mental and physical health benefits. This class will be a 20 minute discussion on the brain wave states that govern meditation, dreaming and intuition. We will briefly discuss the beneficial effects of these states on the nervous system and the regenerative power of the practice on the entire mind-body. There will be 20 minutes of light breath work and guided meditation to experience the quieter brain wave states and the restful and restorative states of the body. No meditation experience necessary.

Learning how to center and hold one's energy lower in the body helps build personal power and is an incredibly helpful practice of embodiment to clear the mind. This class will offer practices used to access the instinctive center and to rest the mind there. This class will be 10 minutes of discussion with 30 minutes of breath work and guided meditation to be able to listen to the quieter voices of the meditative state as well as the intelligent language of body and heart. Skygazing: A Tibetan Meditation Event

An ancient Tibetan meditation technique, SkyGazing is a wonderful method to incorporate into your current meditation practice or try as a new practitioner. It is a core practical application of Dzogchen meditation. First we will practice a short yoga/qi gong sequence to prepare the body for sitting, while also enhancing greater stillness of the mind. Then comes SkyGazing. In SkyGazing we learn to relax, let go, and let ourselves "be" in the natural state of things, just as they are. We merge the finite, thinking heart-mind with the absolute, unconditional infinity of essential Buddha-like being. SkyGazing can be done anywhere, but is best suited to outdoor venues like Stratton's beautiful mountain setting! Weather permitting the meditation segment will take place outdoors! Bring a blanket and wear layers.
